Stony Mill Elementary Stomps Out Bullying in Many Ways:
October 1 faculty, staff and students wore blue to show unity in anti-bullying efforts
Anti-bullying posters and bulletin boards are on display throughout school
Guidance counselor is teaching lessons on bullying identification and prevention
Students will be given anti-bullying pledge cards to sign and they will receive certificates for participating
Students are encouraged to demonstrate positive behavior by following the Mustang T.R.O.T. (Think safety, Respect ourselves and others, Own our behavior, & be a Team player). Faculty and staff members submit positive office referrals for students when they show exceptional behavior, especially when it relates to the positive treatment of others.
The playground has a "Buddy Bench." Students are taught to keep a check on the bench and if they see someone sitting there alone, they should either sit with the student or ask the student to play.
On October 24 faculty, staff and students will wear orange in support of unity day
