Stony Mill Elementary celebrated Read Across America from February 28-March 4. Each day we had a theme for clothing to wear.
Monday was “Cat in the Hat Day” so students and staff wore stripes. Tuesday was “Thing 1 Thing 2 Day” and everyone was encouraged to twin with someone. Wednesday was “Put Me In the Zoo Day” so there was animal print and polka dots galore. Students also received a cupcake in honor of Dr. Suess’s birthday. Thursday was “Green Eggs and Ham Day” so everyone wore shades of green. The week concluded on Friday with “Fox In Socks Day” so everyone wore crazy or mismatched socks.
In addition to these fun days, when students visited the library, they enjoyed a “book tasting” with our librarian, Mrs. Heather Cuppelman. This allowed students in kindergarten through 5th grade to “sample” different genres of books. Students also completed a book challenge as well to see which student in each grade level read the most for the week. Students and staff enjoyed Read Across America Week.
