On Monday, October 21, 2019, students at Stony Mill Elementary School participated in their annual Reach for the Gold event to raise money for the Claire Parker Foundation. This foundation serves children with cancer in our local community. Gold is the universal color for pediatric cancer. The students raised $2,825.65 for the foundation.

The event culminated with an exciting day of fun games and activities called “Wacky Olympics.” Students not only learned the importance of community service, but they also had a blast playing games like, Human Bowling, Beat the Clock, and Battle Stacks!

Coordinator of the event, Coach Katherine Blair, said, “I am so proud of the children who participated in this event. They are learning that we all should be involved in making our world a better place to live. Helping children who have cancer is a great way to demonstrate love and concern for our community.”
