Stack Up

On Thursday, November 14, 2019, students at Stony Mill Elementary School participated in the 14th annual STACKUP event. Sport stacking, also known as cup stacking or speed stacking, is an individual or team sport that involves stacking 9 or 12 specially designed cups in various predetermined patterns. Students participated in three competition stacks. Speed stacking is a terrific hand/eye coordination activity that has been proven to help students with both reading and math skills. Students prepare for the STACKUP event for about 6 weeks in their Physical Education class. Trophies were awarded to the fastest stackers in each grade level. Students also brought canned food to the event and created a huge pyramid of stacked cans. The students contributed 838 pounds of canned food which was donated to God’s Storehouse.
